Throughout the season, information and updates regarding practice, meets, and other team news will be distributed by email. If you have not been receiving the recent email distributions by the team, send your email address to xcelswim @xcelswimming.org to be added to the team's email distribution list. Multiple email addresses per swimmer or family can be added to the list to receive information both at home and at work.

X-Cel is excited to announce that Coach "Gabe" Mazurkiewicz will be joining its coaching staff at the start of the long course season. Coach Gabe is an accomplished, professional coach with more than 20 years of coaching experience. He has coached the Kirk sisters, who were both members of the 2004 US Olympic team, and has also coached numerous swimmers to world rankings, national age group records, junior national championships, and national top 16 rankings. X-Cel Swimming is extremely pleased to have Coach Gabe join its coaching staff as it continues to develop its program of swimming X-Cellence. Coach Steve is competing at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming Championship this week. Steve is a top seed in both the 100 Breast and the 200 Breast. For results, click on 100 Breast or 200 Breast.

Thanks to all of those who participated in the Swim-a-thon on Saturday, January 29th, to benefit The Sunshine Kids Foundation. As of Saturday, almost $3500 had been collected. If you would to make a donation, you can still so by giving a check made out to the Sunshine Foundation to either Coach Mu or Coach Lucy. On Wednesday through Friday (January 5th-7th) at DeNunzio, we will be gathering packaged goodies (personal size cookies, pretzels, potato chips) as well as some personal care items (socks, baby wipes, etc.) for our troops serving in Iraq. There will also be a banner available for all swimmers and parents to sign which will be delivered to the soldiers shortly thereafter. Thank you in advance for showing your support for the men and woman of our country who are serving overseas during this Holiday season. Special thanks to Kathy Olszuk for organizing this project. X-Cel's grant application from USA Swimming to purchase an underwater video camera has been approved!! Purchase of the camera will be completed in early 2005, and we will then begin to use the camera as a means to help our swimmers improve their strokes. X-Cel was provided the opportunity to apply for the grant as a result of our status as a USA Swimming Silver Medal Club.

This holiday season X-Cel is to supporting a program called the Heifer Foundation. The Heifer Foundation provides working and livestock animals to impoverished families around the world to help them feed themselves, earn an income, and care for their environment. Each X-Cel family is asked to make a donation so that enough money can be raised for the team to give the gift of a "Milk Menagerie". Thanks to all of the families who contributed food and drink for the Halloween party. Food items remaining after the party were donated to Hopewell and Montgomery fire departments and EMTs. Each of these groups was very grateful to receive the goodies. A special thanks to Kathy Olszuk who organized the party and provided the prizes!

The high school warmup program has been expanded, and has been reopened to accept new swimmers. This program is open to all local area high school swimmers. For more information, click here.
