January 29, 2007 - Chinese New Year Party 
We had a wonderful Chinese New Year Party at Super Star Easy Buffet on Sunday, January 28, 2007.

Thank to Lin and Annmarie who organize the party, special thanks to Lin who made the table decorations, little bags of candy, key chains and fortunes. We had over 180 people in the party and thanks to all of swimmers and their family who attend the party.

December 24, 2006 - Volunteer Sign-Up for X-Cel's Meet of X-Cellence
Our Meet of X-Cellence will be held January 13-14, 2007 at DeNunzio Pool. The response to our request for Meet of X-Cellence volunteers has been very positive!!! Thank you!

For the updated volunteer assignment sign-up spreadsheet, click here. To see the volunteer status for your family, click here. Both spreadsheets should be opened "Read Only".

If your family has not volunteered to-date (see yellow highlighted names in the volunteer status spreadsheet), your family will be assigned to be timers for both shifts on Sat or Sun afternoon. Please let Tom Lapinas (at tom_lapinas@merck.com) know if you have a preference for Saturday or Sunday, prior to Wednesday, Dec 27th. After that date, Tom will randomly assign your family to be timers on either of these two afternoons. Families must work at this meet in order to avoid forfeiting the work bond that was collected at the start of this season.

Please contact Tom by e-mail if you find that any of the information on the assignment sheet is incorrect. All volunteer requests were handled in the order they were received. Please note that pool and lane assignments will be finalized after Jan 1st, in an effort to have as many parents as possible work the pool in which their swimmer(s) will be competing. Madeleine Deardorff won third place (97 points) of 7-8 girls Individual High Point Winners.
Karen Shi won fouth place (85 points) of 7-8 girls Individual High Point Winners.

Congratulation to Tony Qian, our Level 5 swimmer, who won the 200 IM and the 500 free and was also on the 200 free relay that won for the West Windsor-Plainsboro South swim team win vs Hightstown on Tuesday, 12/12/06. For the press release, click here.
December 12, 2006 - Holiday Parties for Swimmers and Coaches 
We are going to celebrate a terrific short course season to-date and have a fun holiday parties
for all of swimmers and coaches.

Party for Level 1 and coaches: Monday, 12/18/2006 after practice at the pool.
Pizza, snacks, and juice boxes will be provided.

Party for Level 2, 3 4, 5 and coaches: Friday, 12/22/2006 after practice at the pool.
Pizza, a vegetable tray, snacks and soda will be provided.

We encourage parents to attend the party, have a fun with other parents, coaches and swimmers.
We appreciate if you could help with clean up after the parties.

Thanks to Annmarie who organize the parties.

We had fun party on Monday for Level 1 swimmers and coaches and Friday for Level 2 to 5 swimmers and coaches. Thanks to Annmarie, Ronda Lewinson, Lin Cheng, Jessica Tarng and many other parents for organizing and supporting the party.

November 26, 2006 - Volunteer Sign-Up for X-Cel's Meet of X-Cellence
Our Meet of X-Cellence will be held January 13-14, 2007 at DeNunzio Pool. To make this as successful a meet as possible, ALL families will have to volunteer to fill the approximately 60 volunteer positions required for each session of this meet! Please see the volunteer assignment sign-up spreadsheet to consider which volunteer assignments your family would like to fill. There are two tabs in the spreadsheet that also show which sessions (morning vs afternoon) your swimmer will be swimming in that weekend.

Assignment requests will be filled on a first-come/first-serve basis. Each family should volunteer for 2-3 assignments to allow us to fill the meet assignment schedule. A number of positions have already been filled by families that attended the first two meet organization meetings. To make your assignment request, please e-mail Tom Lapinas at tom_lapinas@merck.com. If your family does not request a specific assignment, you will be defaulted to 2 or 3 timing assignments that weekend. Every effort will be made to match-up timing assignments with the session and pool in which your swimmer will be competing. Tom will fill assignments in the order e-mails are received. If you have any questions, please e-mail Tom and he will answer back or will make arrangements to talk to you.

Please keep in mind that for us to run this meet, numerous families will have to work sessions in which their swimmers are not swimming. As an example, we need ~60 volunteers for the afternoon sessions, where only up to 45 families' swimmers will be competing. This is just what it takes to make an invitational work! We've benefited from other clubs hosting meets, now it's out turn to give NJ/PA/NY area swimmers a quality meet in which to compete! Thank you in advance for volunteering!!!

The Metro Swim order is partially in. I have the suits, Medalist Jackets, and team bags. Hopefully the caps and the rest of the apparel will arrive soon. I will be at the pool this Friday from 8-9 and again on Sunday from 5:30-6:30 to distribute the orders. I know these times don't accommodate level 1 swimmers but that is when I can get to the pool. Please have an adult pick up your order. I will not give orders out to swimmers.

Congratulations to all swimmers who competed in the Octoberfest and STRM October Mini Meets. October 5, 2006 - STRM Mini & Octoberfest Meets updated Infomation
STRM October Mini Meet to be held on October 15, 2006 at Fort Dix.

The STRM October Mini Meet session start times have been changed.
The Boys and Girls sessions have been combined into one session.

Warm-ups begins at 12:15pm and the meet begins at 1:00pm. The timeline has the meet ending by 3:00pm.

Octoberfest Meet to be held on October 14-15, 2006 at GCIT.

Note from the meet director:

Thank you all for supporting the 2006 GCIT Oktoberfest A/BB/C Meet. This meet will be almost twice as large as it has been in past years.

Please check the meet session report and psych sheet. Please note the start times for the 500 Free on Saturday and 400 IM on Sunday.

Please look over the psych sheets for any issues and let Coach Lucy know of any problems ASAP.
WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING DECK ENTRIES AT THIS MEET.

CALL FOR OFFICIALS:
We are in need of a few more officials for this swim meet. If you have any certified officials on your team please provide me with their name and contact information ASAP.

Finally on Saturday morning there will be a Veterans of Foreign Wars event happening at the school along with the swim meet. We are asking all meet patrons to remain in the pool area (pool, locker rooms, balcony, etc.) unless it is absolutely necessary to leave those areas. All parents/guardians are responsible for their children at the meet who are not parcticipating in that session.

October 2, 2006 - Become A Swimming Official 
Several stroke and turn clinics are being offered during October for parents who are interested in becoming a stroke and turn official. Being an official is a great way to help the sport of swimming, and to make the meets that we attend run smoother. Without officials, there could be no swim meets. If you are interested in knowing more about officiating, several X-Cel parents are officials that you can contact: Karen Fagard, Margo Noisten, or Jack Zhang. If you plan to attend, please make reservations by email or call with the instructor indicated.

OR you want your child to swim different events than those chosen by their coach.

September 14, 2006 - 2006-7 Short Course Team Apparel Order  
We have scheduled swim suit fitting with Metro Swim Shop on

Monday, September 18, 2006 at 5:30pm at DeNunzio pool

Coaches recommend the equipments for swimmers:
Level 5: kick board, fins, pull buoy, paddles (red) and stretch cordz.
Level 4: kick board, fins, pull buoy, paddles (blue or red) and stretch cordz.
Level 2 & 3: kick board, fins, and stretch cordz.
Level 1: kick board and fins.

NOTE: Stretch Cords will be ordered directly from Coach Lucy for $25 ($25 check should be payable to X-Cel swimming) and are not on the Metro Swim order form. All other equipment can be purchased from Metro on Monday.

We are requesting parents plan to come in to the pool with their swimmers, since you will need to approve your child's fit and apparel choice, as well as make payment directly to Metro. Please don't forget to bring your checkbooks.

If you cannot make Monday's fitting, please fill out the order form and fax it to Metro Swim with credit card information. Fax: 908-903-0546
