Announces Top-8 Finishes at the New Jersey Junior Olympics
Piscataway, NJ, March 19-21, 2010 - X-Cel Swimming is pleased to announce top place finishes and many individual best times at the 2010 New Jersey Swimming Junior Olympics Short Course Championships Meet. The meet was held from March 19-21, 2010 at the Rutgers University Sonny Werblin Pool.
In the girls 10 and under division, Melinda Tang won the highest point award. Tang won first place in three events: the 200 IM (2:31.64), 500 free (5:52.62) and 100 butterfly (1:07.86). She also placed second in both the 100- (1:02.24) and 200 freestyle (2:14.11), third in both the 100 IM (1:12.52) and 50 butterfly with (31.23), fourth in the 50 free (28.59), and sixth in the 50 backstroke with a time of (33.81).
In the girls 11-12 division, Cynthia Wu placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.00), third in the 400 IM (4:57.78), fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.15), fifth in the 200 IM (2:18.72), seventh in the 100 IM (1:04.47), and eighth in the 100 free with a time of (57.35).
In the boys 11-12 division, Allan Wang won first place in both the 50 butterfly (27.57) and 200 breaststroke (2:31.32), second in the 100 fly (1:02.38) and the 200 IM (2:18.09), third in the 400 IM (4:55.28), fourth in the 100 breast (1:10.64), fifth in the 200 fly (2:20.84), fifth in the 200 IM (2:18.09) and sixth in the 50 breaststroke with a time of (33.48). James Wu placed fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of (26.42).
In the girls 13 to 14 division, Serena Deardorff won first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of (57.50), and set a new X-Cel team record winning first place in the 200 butterfly (2:07.25). Deardorff also placed second in four events: the 100 back (59.02), 200 IM (2:11.06), 50 (24.98) and 200 (2:08.71). She also placed seventh in the 100 freestyle with a time of (55.37).
In the boys 13 to 14 division, Colburn Yu placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of (1:05.38).
In the girls 15 and over division, Megan Lydzinski won first place in both the 50 free (23.79) and the 100 free (51.98). Anna Marshall placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.35) and third in the 100 breast with a time of (1:06.43).
In the boys 15 and over division, Peter Deardorff set a new team record in the 200 fly with a time of (1:59.91). Daniel Druckman placed sixth in the 100 backstroke (54.50). Victor Honore set new team records in both the 100 Fly, placing second (51.06), and the 200 backstroke, placing third with a time of (1:54.75). Honore also placed fourth in the 100 back with a time of (53.49).
X-Cel Swimming is a USA Swimming team dedicated to bringing out excellence in competitive swimmers. X-Cel's swimmers range from beginners to seniors who attend Zone, Sectional, and National level meets with USA Top-10 time cuts. In its 15th year, X-Cel is run by head coach Lucy (Sipei) Le, a former Chinese National Champion in the 200 fly who has been coaching swimming for over 20 years.
