Swimming Announces Top 8 Results at the NJ State Meet at GCIT
Princeton,
New Jersey – X-Cel Swimmers participated in the NJ State Meet on
Dec 18-19, 2010 at Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT). Congratulations to Emily Hung, 12, for setting
a new team record in the 100 back (1:03.10). Many other X-Cel Swimmers improved their
records in several events and achievieved gold and silver medals. Top eight results follow.
In the 10 and under age group, Dylan Torrance, 10, placed first in three events: 50 back (35.69, Division BB), 100 IM (01:18.2 BB) and 200 IM (2:47.0 BB). Torrance also placed third in the following events:
50 fly (36.6 BB), 100 back (1:15.1 Division
A) and 200 free (2:31.0 BB). Yash
Tanga, 10, won third place in 100 back (1:21.2 BB), fourth in 200 IM (3:05.3 BB) and placed seventh in 200 free (2:35.8 BB). Spencer
Chen, 9, placed in eighth in 100 breast (1:45.0,
Division C). Carolyn Vaca, 10,
won second place in the 100 IM with a time of (1:23.0
BB), fifth in 100 back (1:23.0 BB) and seventh
in 100 free (1:13.5 BB). Dan-Anh Hoang, 10,
placed third in 100 breast (1:41.1 C). Allison
Chou, 9, placed in fourth in 100 fly (1:24.3 A). Jenny Huang, 10, placed fifth in 50 fly
(41.85 C) and fifth place in 100 fly (1:42.0 C). Grace Zhang, 9, placed sixth in 50 fly (42.26
C). Annie Huang, 10, placed sixth in 100
fly (1:47.9 C). Morgan Linsley, 9, swam
to a sixth place finish in 100 IM (1:33.4 C).
Ashley Own, 10, placed seventh in 200 free (02:54.3 C).
In
the 11-12 age group, Emily Hung, 12, placed first in three events: 1650 free
(19:48.8 C), 100 back (1:03.10 A) and 100 fly (1:04.3 A). Hung also placed second in three events: 100
free (57.03 A), 100 breast (1:15.7, Division A) and 500 free (05:44.1 A). Leslie Zhang, 11, placed first in four
events: 50 back (34.14 C), 200 IM (02:35.9 BB), 500 free (06:16.6 C) and 100
back (1:14.6 C). Zhang also placed third
in 100 breast (1:21.7 BB) and eighth in 50 breast (38.6 BB). Kara Lydzinski, 12,
swam to a third place finish in the 50 breast (35.53 A), sixth in 200 free (2:10.7
A) and sixth in 100 IM (1:09.6 A). Vanessa
Lerner, 11, earned first place in 200 IM (2:47.9 C), and placed seventh in 100
IM (1:18.6 C). Melinda Tang, 11, placed second in 1650 free (20:15.7 C). Jamie Liu, 11, won second place in two
events: 100 back (1:17.5 C) and 100 IM (1:15.1 C). Liu also placed third in 50 fly (34.1 C), fourth
in 50 breast (40.15C) and sixth in 50 back (36.58, C). Rachel Zhou, 12, placed third in 500 free
(6:22.5 C) and fourth in 100 IM (1:17.3 C).
Ananya Swaminathan,
11, placed fourth in 50 free (31.84 C).
Sophia Torrance, 12, placed fifth in 100 back (1:14.4 BB). Jackie Ngu, 11,
placed sixth in 50 free (29.47 BB) and seventh in 100 fly (1:15.7 BB). Eric Tong, 12, swam to a first place finish
in two events: 100 breast (1:20.9 BB) and 50 breast (36.62 BB). Tong also placed second in both 100 free (1:03.8
C) and 200 IM (2:42.1C). Tong placed
third in 200 free (2:23.9 C) and finished fifth in 100 IM (1:12.1 BB). Richard Deng, 12, won first place in 500 free
(6:18.9 C), third in 400 IM (5:27.1 C) and placed fourth in both the 100 breast
(1:22.5 BB) and 200 IM (2:32.1 A).
Michael Zhong, 11, placed second in 50 fly
(33.46 BB) and eighth in 100 free (1:07.3C).
Russell In, 12, placed third in three events: 50 back (32.22 A), 200 IM
(2:31.2 BB) and 100 fly (1:12.2 BB). In
also placed fourth in both 400 IM (5:33.4 C) and 200 free (2:20.0 BB). Michael Liu, 11, placed fourth in 50 back (1:23.6
BB), fifth in both 100 breast (1:23.6 BB) and 100 IM (1:16.8 C). Ajay Sarathy, 11, swam to a fourth place
finish in 100 breast (1:26.4 C) and placed sixth in 200 IM (2:52.5 C). Samuel Golbin, 11, placed eighth in 200 IM (2:57.5
C).
In
the 13-14 age group, Belinda Liu, 14, placed first in 100 free (1:01.8 BB),
second in both the 200 free (2:11.8 BB) and 200 IM (02:28.0 BB) Liu also finished third in 100 fly (1:08.2 C)
and sixth in 100 breast (01:21.5 BB).
Heather Zhang,13, placed fourth in 200 breast (2:52.5 BB), fifth in 200
free (2:23.8 C) and seventh in 100 breast (1:21.5 BB). Pooja Narayanan,
13, placed eighth in 500 free (6:33.3 C).
Jason Zhang, 13, won first place in the 100 breast (1:18.2 C) and placed fifth in the 400 IM (5:21.6
BB). Alex Bank, 13, placed third in both
the 50 free (28.01 C) 100 free (1:01.3C ).
Bank also placed fourth in 100 breast (1:18.8 C), fifth in 200 free
(2:15.0C) and sixth in 200 free (2:53.9 C).
Christian Chiang, 13, placed fifth in 200 breast (2:47.9 BB). Frewin Hu,13, placed seventh in 200 free (2:16.2
C) and eighth in 200 breast (2:55.4 C).
In
the 15 and over age group, Shawnee Gundry,16, swam to a first place finish both
the 500 free (5:37.0 C) and 200 IM (02:23.4 C).
Gundry placed second in the 50 free (26.36 A) and 100 back (01:04.5 A). Gundry also swam to an eighth place finish in
the 200 free (2:05.2 A). Marisa Giglio,16, placed first in 100 breast (1:16.5 BB),
second in 200 IM (2:19.3 A) and third in 500 free (5:28.0 A). Giglio also placed fourth in both the 200
breast (2:40.7 A) and 400 IM (04:56.0 A).
Giglio swam to an eighth place finish
in 200 back (2:19.7 A). Kinh Hoang, 15, placed third in the 50 free (24.55 BB) and sixth
in 200 breast (2:43.0C). Stephen Schultz,
15, placed fourth in the 50 free (26.7 C), sixth in 500 free (5:26.9 BB) and
seventh in both the 200 back (2:17.1 BB) and 200 breast (02:44.3 C).
X-Cel
Swimming is a USA Swimming team founded in 1995. The program is led by
Head Coach Lucy (SiPei) Le, five time Chinese
National Champion and former Olympic Team Member. X-Cel provides a
comprehensive youth swimming program for all levels of competitive swimming,
from novice to National level athlete. X-Cel's
focused workouts with trained, qualified coaches give each swimmer the
opportunity to achieve his or her highest potential. Each swimmer develops physically, emotionally
