Swimming Proudly Announces Top 8 Finishes at the 2011 Piranha Pentathlon

Swimmers opened the Short Course season with many first place finishes,
improved times and strong determination at the Piranha Pentathlon held at Rider
University, Oct. 23. Top eight results follow:
In the 10 and under age group, Kate McMonlogue, 9, placed
fourth in the 50 fly (49.94) and placed fifth in both the 50 breast (51.70) and
50 back (45.14). Derek Ren, 9,
placed fifth in both the 50 free (40.77) and 100 IM (1:53.35). Ren also placed sixth in both the 50
breast (1:01.39) and 50 back (55.57).
Melody Tang, 9, swam to a sixth place finish in the 100 IM (1:42.44), placed
seventh in the 50 fly (51.77) and eighth in both the 50 breast (53.69) and 50
back (48.55). Congratulations to
Justin Tong, 9, for his first place wins in both the 50 free (35.70) and 50
breast (48.98). Tong also placed
second in both the 50 fly (49.98) and 100 IM (1:38.25) and placed third in the
50 back (46.89). Larry Wang, 9,
placed fifth in the 50 back (53.73), sixth in the 50 fly (1:09.59), seventh in
the 100 IM (2:14.57) and eighth in the 50 breast (1:06.13).
Nao Brand, 10, placed sixth
in the 50 fly (38.51) and seventh in both the 50 free (32.68) and 100 IM (1:26.49). Spencer Chen, 10, placed second in the
50 breast (43.98), third in the 100 IM (1:26.44), fourth in both the 50 free
(34.05) and 50 back (42.64) and fifth in the 50 fly (43.78). Allison Chou, 10, swam to second place
finishes in the following events:
50 free (30.89), 50
back (37.14), 50 fly (34.61), 100 IM (1:19.67). Chou also placed fourth in the 50 breast
(42.44). Michael Krigeris, 10, placed seventh in the 100 IM (1:36.93). Morgan Linsley,
10, swam to an eighth place finish in the 50 breast (45.58). Martin Long, 10, placed second in the 50 back
(41.14) and third in the 50 fly (43.18).
Ashley Own, 10, placed third in the following events: 50 breast (42.17), 50 back (37.98), 100
IM (1:20.77). Own also placed
fourth in the 50
fly (37.70) and fifth in the 50 free (32.31). Alex Sang, 10, placed fourth in the 50
back (42.64), fifth in the 50 breast (51.73) and seventh in the 50 free
(35.21). Oliver Tang, 10, placed
third in the 50 back (42.52), fourth in the 50 fly (43.46), fifth in the 50
free (34.23) and sixth in both the 50 breast (47.86) and 100 IM (1:32.13). Richard Yuan, 10, swam to a second place
finish in the following events: 50
free (31.28), 50 fly (37.01), 100 IM (1:19.34). Yuan also placed seventh in the 50
breast (48.08). Jonathan Yue, 10, placed sixth in the 50 back (45.19) and eighth in
both the 50 free (35.94) and 50 fly (48.93). Grace Zhang, 10, placed fifth in the 50 fly (37.74) and eighth in
the 100 IM (1:27.19).
In the 11-12 age group, Anna Cao, 11, swam exceptionally
well, achieving first place wins in the following events: 50 free (31.04), 50 breast (40.66), 50
back (37.04). Cao also placed
second in the 50 fly (35.88). Sara Essig, 11, placed eighth in the 50 fly
(41.22). Dan-Anh
Hoang, 11, placed seventh in the 50 fly (40.75). Annie Huang, 11, placed fourth in the 50
back (39.12), fifth in the 50 fly (37.83), seventh in the 50 breast (43.91) and
eighth in the 100 IM (1:26.94).
Congratulations to Kevin Liu, 11, for his first place wins
in the following events: 50 free (29.74),
50 breast (38.70), 100 IM (1:17.79).
Liu also placed second in the 50 fly (34.53) and third in the 50 back

(1:24.90), third in both the 50 breast (42.12) and 50 fly (37.15) and fourth in
the 50 free (32.57). Sreyans Tanga, 11, placed second
in the 50 back (36.52), swam to a third place finish in both the 50 free
(30.50) and the 100 IM (1:20.66). Tanga also placed fourth in the 50 fly (39.10) and fifth in
the 50 breast (45.01). Dylan
Torrance, 11, achieved a first place win in the 50 back (34.97), placed second
in both the 50 breast (42.56) and 100 IM (1:17.92), third in the 50 fly (36.96)
and fourth in the 50 free (30.88). Carolyn Vaca,
11, swam to a second place finish in the 50 free (32.43) and placed fourth in
the 50 fly (37.80). Vaca also placed seventh in both the 50 back (40.16) and
100 IM (1:26.32). Vijay Vatti, 11, achieved a first place win in the 50 fly
(34.86), placed second in the 50 free (30.40), third in the 50 breast (43.68)
and fourth in both the 50 back (37.94) and 100 IM (1:20.88). Catherine Yang, 11, swam to a fourth
place finish in the 50 breast (42.21).
Robert Zhang, 11, placed sixth in the 50 breast (47.04) and eighth in
the 50 back (46.45).
David Chang, 12, placed sixth in both the 50 breast (42.30)
and 50 fly (35.44) and seventh in the 100 IM (1:19.31). Samuel Golbin,
12, placed seventh in the 50 fly (35.95).
Michael Liu, 12, placed second in the 50 breast (37.06), third in both
the 50 free (27.93) and 50 fly (31.14) and fourth in both the 50 back (33.44)
and 100 IM (1:11.15). Congratulations
to Jacqueline Ngu, 12, for
her first place win in the 50 back (31.55). Ngu also
placed second in the following events:
50 free (28.18), 50 fly (31.47) and 100 IM (1:11.14). Ajay Sarathy,
12, placed third in the 50

eighth in both the 50 free (30.16) and 50 back (37.03). Leslie Zhang, 12, placed third in both
the 50 breast (38.10) and 100 IM (1:12.82) and fifth in the 50 back
(34.48). Michael Zhong, 12, placed second in the 50 fly (29.84), third in
both the 50 back (32.98) and 100 IM (1:10.81), fourth in the 50 free (28.24)
and fifth in the 50 breast (39.96).
In the 13-14 age group, Madeline Deardorff,
13, placed second in the 100 fly (1:05.99), fourth in the 200 IM (2:25.72),
sixth in the 100 breast (1:19.77) and eighth in the 100 free (1:01.74). Richard Deng, 13, placed seventh in both
the 100 breast (1:18.70) and 100 back (1:08.76) and eighth in the 100 free
(58.41). Emily Hung, 13, placed
second in both the 100 free (58.37) and 100 back (1:06.04), third in both the
100 fly (1:06.50) and 200 IM (2:25.43) and fifth in the 100 breast
(1:19.70). Russell In, 13, swam to
a sixth place finish in the 100 breast (1:18.22) and placed eighth in the 100
back (1:09.40). Brian Li, 13,
placed eighth in the 100 breast (1:18.76).
Kara Lydzinski, 13, placed third in the 100
breast (1:18.56), fourth in the 100 free (1:00.09), sixth in the 200 IM
(2:32.34), seventh in the 100 fly (1:09.38) and eighth in the 100 back (1;12.81). Sophia
Torrance, 13, placed eighth in the 100 fly (1:13.85).
Samantha Chan, 14, achieved a first place win in the 100
breast (1:13.80), placed second in the 200 IM (2:24.74) and fifth in both the
100 back (1:11.98) and 100 fly (1:08.33).
Christian Chiang, 14, placed third in the 100 breast (1:15.62). Frewin Hu, 14, placed third in the 100
fly (1:05.60) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:27.21). Ethan Vaca,
14, placed second in the 100 free (54.60), third in the 200 IM (2:20.92),
fourth in the 100 fly (1:06.16) and fifth in the 100 back (1:05.29). Yilun Wang,
14, swam to a second place finish in the following events: 100 breast (1:14.55), 100 fly (1:03.46),
200 IM (2:19.75). Wang also placed
third in the 100 back (1:04.75) and sixth in the 100 free (56.77). James Wu, 14, placed second in the 100
back (1:04.53), third
in the 100 free (55.83), fourth in the 200 IM (2:23.90) and
eighth in the 100 fly (1:11.25).
In the 15 and over age group, Cassidy Bergeron, 15, placed
sixth in the 100 fly (1:09.26) and seventh in the 100 free (58.35). Jeffrey Chan, 15, placed fifth in the
100 free (52.34), sixth in the 100 breast (1:13.40), seventh in the 200 IM
(2:15.43) and eighth in the 100 back (1:04.87). Colburn Yu, 15, achieved a first place
win in the 100 breast (1:03.43), sixth in the 200 IM (2:13.46), and eighth in
both the 100 free (54.74) and 100 fly (1:04.74). Congratulations to Serena Deardorff, 16, for her first place achievements in the following
events: 100 free (54.75), 100 back
(1:01.25), 100 fly ( 59.68), 200 IM (2:17.52). Deardorff also
swam to a second place finish in the 100 breast (1:14.62). Jennifer Enos,
16, placed eighth in the 100 back (1:09.50). Lincoln Harris, 16, placed second in the
200 IM (2:08.29) and third in the following events: 100 breast ( 1:06.56), 100 back
(59.75), 100 fly (59.12). Harris
also placed sixth in the 100 free (52.72).
Patrick Schultz, 16, placed seventh in the 100 back (1:03.23). Stephen Schultz, 16, placed sixth in the
100 fly (1:03.09) and seventh in the 100 breast (1:14.40).
John Bond, 17, placed fifth in the 100 fly (1:02.06). Marisa Giglio,
17, placed third in both the 100 breast (1:17.58) and 200 IM (2:23.62) and
fourth in the 100 back (1:07.59).
Shawnee Gundry, 17, placed third in the 100 back (1:04.19), fourth in
the 100 fly (1:07.25), fifth in the 100 free (57.67), sixth in the 200 IM
(2:28.34) and seventh in the 100 breast (1:20.26). Congratulations to Addison Hebert, 17,
for his first place win in the 100 fly (57.20). Hebert also placed second in the 100 free (50.88), fourth
in the 200 IM (2:10.20), fifth in the 100 breast (1:10.96) and sixth in the 100
back (1:02.06). Ann Hyunah Lee, 17, placed eighth in the 100
free (58.73). Megan Lydzinski, 17, placed second in the 100 free (54.93),
fourth in the 100
breast (1:19.37), fifth in the 100 fly (1:08.18), sixth in the 100 back
(1:08.93), and eighth in the 200 IM (2:29.78). Congratulations to Anna Marshall, 17,
for her first place win in the 100 breast (1:12.33). Marshall also placed fourth in the 200
IM (2:24.64) and seventh in the 100 fly (1:09.79). Cori Michibata, 17, placed second in the
100 back (1:03.80), third in the 100 free (56.38) and fifth in both the 100
breast (1:19.52) and 200 IM (2:25.36).
X-Cel Swimming
is a USA Swimming team founded in 1995. The program is led by Head Coach
Lucy (SiPei) Le, five time Chinese National Champion and former Olympic Team
Member. X-Cel provides a comprehensive youth swimming program for all levels of
competitive swimming, from novice to National level athlete. X-Cel's focused
workouts with trained, qualified coaches give each swimmer the opportunity to
achieve his or her highest potential.
Each swimmer develops physically, emotionally and mentally, schooled in
